Stability tests prompt Bausch & Lomb ReNu recall
Substandard quality identified in routine testing and reports of sensitivity have prompted to Bausch & Lomb to make a two-part precautionary recall of its ReNu contact lens solution in Europe and the Middle East.
Part one involves one lot of 120-milliliter ReNu MultiPlus multi-purpose solution. The company says it received "a small number of reports about sensitivity issues related to this lot," according to a press report. The product was distributed in Croatia, Dubai, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
In part two, Bausch & Lomb is recalling some lots of both the ReNu and ReNu MultiPlus solutions in Europe and the Middle East. "They are not meeting our quality expectations," the company said in the report. Stability monitoring showed sub-par performance.
The recalled products show no indication of safety or efficacy issues, the company says.
