E-pedigree augments enterprise software
Prescription pharmaceutical e-pedigree tracking capabilities can now be combined with enterprise software via a partnership between supply-chain solutions provider rfXcel Corp and International Business Systems.
The combo will provide tracking through a real-time interface with IBS Enterprise software, helping businesses satisfy state and federal regulations requiring the authentication and maintenance of electronically recorded receipts, shipments and other transactions, the companies say in an announcement.
E-pedigree remains a desired capability, despite the fact that mandates have been pushed back and the economy has led to the whacking of all but essential budget line items. One example: Golden State Medical Supply earlier this year installed the IBM InfoSphere Traceability Server on a line used to package a range of pharmaceuticals. Golden State uses 2D barcodes on labels it attaches to prescription bottles and then an RFID tag at the case level. Cases are read as they leave the production line, at a capacity of 600,000 bottles per month, reports Pharmaceutical Commerce magazine.
