Drug reviewers to hit the books
FDA reviewers can look forward to a break in their daily routine for education on advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing and technology.
Under a $652,000 contract just awarded by the regulator, the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Education (NIPTE) and Duquesne University will collaborate to develop educational content for the FDA Office of Pharmaceutical Science. OPS staff includes those who review and evaluate the quality-related information for new drug applications.
NIPTE will work with the OPS to identify education needs and then make recommendations on training areas. The educators will develop and deliver the content and assess its effectiveness in helping students with their review, research and policy-making activities.
The program is expected to run through September 2011.
