DHL has teamed with CryoPort, maker of frozen-product shipping containers. CryoPort has connected its order-entry and tracking web portal with DHL's ordering and billing systems. The combo lets drugmakers place shipping orders from CryoPort and receive preferred DHL shipping rates.

CryoPort makes the Express Dry Shipper, a liquid nitrogen dry-vapor alternative to dry-ice packaging. The shipper keeps biologics frozen at -150 degrees Celsius for 10 days.

FedEx made a similar announcement in January, launching the FedEx Deep Frozen Shipping Solution. It also provides end-to-end service for shipping temperature-sensitive products based on the Express Dry Shipper.
