Clinical trial materials maker expands

Velesco Pharmaceutical Services, formed in 2007 by former Pfizer R&D colleagues in Michigan, has opened a manufacturing facility and office in Kalamazoo and moved its Ann Arbor labs to the Michigan Life Science and Innovation Center in Plymouth. The move provides space to accommodate the growth of its analytical and drug formulation lab services, the company says.

Velesco supports the early-stage work of drug makers by providing analytical method development, drug formulation, stability testing and consulting services.

The 10,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility will be used to make non-sterile cGMP clinical trial supplies. Product offerings will include powder-in-capsule, powder-in-bottle, ointments/creams, oral and topical liquids, over-encapsulation for blinded studies and packaging, according to an announcement.
