The crackdown in China on companies that have been using waste leather products to make their drug capsules continues. The Ministry of Public Security in a statement announced it had closed 80 "illegal production lines," because products contained excessive chromium. Reuters reports police have seized 77 million contaminated capsules, arrested 9 people and detained another 45. "The ministry is paying top-level attention to the case of excess chromium in capsules of medical use and is dispatching investigation teams on a daily basis," it said in the statement carried on its website.
